Information is Beautiful

David McCandless is a self-proclaimed Data journalist, and has created this excellent website InformationisBeautiful.net, and a number of books, compiling examples of beautiful images that communicate data – or how the world works. There are a number of interesting climate related examples, including this one on the number of climate denialist scientists in the US.

Green Patriot Posters

Green Patriot posters is a project supported by The Canary Project to mobilise action on climate change through attention arresting poster campaigns. Working with students, designers and open to the general public, many posters were produced and displayed around the US in the spirit of WWII mobilisation efforts.

State of Design Festival – Change by Design

The 2010 State of Design Festival in Melbourne focussed on the role of Design to effect change. Many environmental themes were explored, including  A Liveable Cities Exhibition, sponsored by Melbourne Water, which brought together leading Melbourne designers to present fascinating installations relating to current water use and suggestions for sustainable change. Pictured is one work, which encouraged people to take home a tube, each containing a prediction of the future, to consider. An interesting example of how a company can harness the arts to visualise and communicate environmental relationships to help meet its goals.
