Carbon Arts partnered with Moreland City Council and FreeRange People to experiment with some tactical urbanism and launch a “Better Block” initiative in Brunswick, Melbourne. The concept, coined by similar efforts that came out of North America, essentially combined partying with social change and to craft a shared and sustainable vision for the neighbourhood.

Over one glorious later summer day, over 700 people came together to celebrate the history and future of this rapidly developing neighbourhood, showcasing local talent and locally driven ideas that could change the world. The ambition of the Anstey Better Block initiative is to create an alternative vision for transforming a concrete jungle into an urban utopia.
